Job description

Seeking a Director of Safety for a local construction company in Newark, DE. The ideal candidate for our client will be responsible for enhancing, training and encouraging a culture of safety within a construction environment. Onsite construction experience is a must which includes walking our client’s state and county construction sites. Must have knowledge of all safety pertaining to excavation, confined spaces, etc. Commercial and Residential Construction experience is a plus. Administrative experience in reporting in incidents and accidents is required.

Duties & Responsibilities include:

*Conduct or coordinate training and maintain attendance/completion records in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, use of safety equipment, safe work practices, etc.

*Perform safety audits and inspections of facilities, job sites, and machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure safety regulation compliance, and works with supervisors and managers to direct corrective and preventative measures.

*Investigate and report on any accidents or near misses to determine root cause and install preventive measures and insurance claims involving theft, property damage, vehicle accidents, etc.

*Provide technical advice and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes.

*Identify and develop best practices and safety policies that lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, improve safe work practices, and become part of operational policies.

*Compile, analyze and interpret accident statistical data and communicate such information.

*Develop, maintain, and update safety manual and various safety related correspondences.

*Maintain programs such as MSDS/HazComm, Confined Space, Fall Protection, etc.

*Be available to review contracts to assure proper adherence to safety policies and procedures.

*Other projects as required.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 5 years of construction field safety experience required

A High School Diploma, Bachelor degree preferred

Knowledge of OSHA exxperience: OSHA 30 Certification

OSHA 10 & 30 Triner Certified is a plus

Valid Driver’s License

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $95,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
